    Matchmaking in Paris

It is also called the city of love; just one of the many reasons why we at Christa Appelt Paris are so connected. The metropolis on the Seine is not only incredibly romantic, but also extremely multifaceted, vibrant and creative. No wonder that it is one of the most popular destinations in the world. We take you on a ramble through France’s beautiful capital and tell you about the must-see lakes beyond the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées…

First of all we from the team of the matchmaking agency Christa Appelt would like to give you a short historical insight to trace the eventful history of Paris:

Originally founded as a settlement of the Parisii, a Celtic tribe, the city, which at that time still traded under the name “Lutetia”, was conquered by the Romans in 52 BC. In the 5th century, the Merovingians ended Roman rule and declared Paris the capital of the Merovingian Empire. This was followed by the Carpetinger dynasty, whose king Philip II. Augustus had the city fortified at the end of the 12th century – and commissioned the construction of the Louvre.

Paris experienced a cultural heyday during the reign of Franz I (1494-1547), who was regarded as a great patron of art and science. Among others, he appointed Andrea del Sarto and Leonardo da Vinci as court artists. An urban planning highlight and thus the foundation stone for Paris, which not only we from the team of the partner agency Christa Appelt love so much, experienced the city then under “Sun King” Louis XIV. He had squares like the sophisticated Place Vendôme and the Grands Boulevards built, the Invalidendom built and modernized water supply and lighting. But the regime of the absolutist rulers ended with Louis XVI, which culminated in 1789 in the storming of the Bastille and plunged Paris – and all of France – into the turmoil of the French Revolution.

The image of a perfect city

Under Napoleon Bonaparte and his nephew Napoleon III, Paris experienced a further aestheticisation, for which Georges-Eugène Haussmann, the ingenious city planner (and also admired by the team of the dating agency Christa Appelt), was responsible. He had avenues laid out with a right-angled structure, lined them with magnificent houses and trees, and also designed parks and gardens for the city.

All this led to a cityscape that still stands for unbreakable beauty, glamour and romance – and not only bewitches us from the team of the dating agency Christa Appelt again and again. Which is why we also offer our services here, in the ultimate city of love. Because according to the credo of the dating agency Christa Appelt, you should never experience Paris alone; but best of all with your dream partner at your side. Are you ready for the famous Paris flair, paired with a little “laissez-faire”, esprit and romance…? Then we’ll take you to our favourite corners now…

Pure romance – for lovers and those who want to become lovers

The best way to discover the magic of the city is to take a walk. In addition to historically grown neighbourhoods such as the Marais or Montmatre, which are extremely picturesque but also often flooded with tourists, the rather unknown arrondissements have many advantages. For example, we from the team of the Christa Appelt matchmaking agency recommend passionate strollers a trip to the Butte aux Cailles quarter in the 13th arrondissement, where small houses with picturesque front gardens almost make you forget that you are in one of the largest metropolises in Europe. And in the midst of the hustle and bustle, one finds an almost village charm. Another favourite of the dating agency Christa Appelt: the Mouffetard quarter around the Rue Mouffetard in the 5th arrondissement, where countless cafés, studios and grocery stores are hidden behind picturesque house facades, crossed by narrow streets and lined by the pretty, tree-lined Place de la Contrescarpe with its fountain.

Art & Culture in the City of Love

A great introduction to the outstanding validity of Paris can also be found through art. There is hardly a city in the world that offers such a density of museums – and one that also offers the highest quality. In the Louvre, the former royal palace, one could probably spend years – and still discover something new! In addition to works of the century such as the “Nike of Samothrace”, Leonardo’s “Mona Lisa” and Vermeer’s “Lace-making”, the halls of this palace are also a true show – including the magnificent Apollo Gallery, which amazes us every time again with the baroque splendour of the team from the dating agency Christa Appelt.

Fans of modern and contemporary art will find a worthy home in the Centre Pompidou as well as in the equally renowned Palais de Tokyo. The Musée d’Orsay on the southern bank of the Seine is recommended for those who love the great Impressionists around Monet, Degas and Renoir. An extra tip from the Christa Appelt dating agency team: visionary exhibitions of contemporary art are shown above all by privately initiated museums such as the Fondation Cartier in the 14th arrondissement or the Fondation Louis Vuitton, built by US star architect Frank Gehry in the middle of Paris’s largest park, the Bois de Boulogne.

These walks are for falling in love

As big as the actual city is with its 20 circular or spiral-shaped arrondissements, the historical centre can be explored on foot. And at the same time you can make some sightseeings or surprising discoveries. The Marais, located in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements, is one of the favourite districts for us from the Christa Appelt partner agency team. Life is vibrating here, thanks above all to the many boutiques, cafés, restaurants and galleries, which can be found above all in the Rue Vieille du Temple, the Rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie and the Rue des Archives. It’s also worth taking a detour to Rue des Rosiers, where you’ll find old-established Jewish grocery stores and one of the favourite cafés run by the Christa Appelt dating agency team: Le Loir dans la Théière. Very studentlike and somewhat alternative, but with definitely the best cake in town!

The Musée Picasso, with the world’s largest collection of paintings and sculptures by the artist of the century, and the sophisticated Place des Vosges, which with its uniform Baroque façades of red brick and spacious arcades is perhaps one of the most beautiful squares in the world, are also a must in the Marais – something that was once appreciated by residents such as Cardinal Richelieu, Victor Hugo and Johnny Depp. Insider tip from the Christa Appelt matchmaking agency team: the Rue de Bretagne with its numerous grocery and delicatessen shops. Here, somewhat hidden and accessible only through two old iron gates, is the oldest market in Paris, the Marché des Enfants Rouges.

In the footsteps of famous artists and writers…

From the Marais in the direction of the Seine, you can take a wonderful walk to the Town Hall and then take the Pont d’Arcole to the Île de la Cité. Here, next to the world-famous early Gothic cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris, the scene of Victor Yugos’s iconic novel, Maria Stuart’s wedding church and the place where Napoleon crowned himself emperor, there is also a rather unknown clerical gem – and thus one of the favourite places of Christa Appelt and her comrades-in-arms: the Sainte-Chapelle. With its colourful paintings and magnificent stained-glass windows, the chapel creates an extremely mystical atmosphere – and enchants its visitors in the long term.

From here it is only a stone’s throw to the 6th arrondissement on the other bank of the Seine, where the picturesque Saint-Germain- des-Prés is located. Around the boulevard Saint-Germain with its noble boutiques and the legendary hotspots “Café de Flore” and “Café des Deux Magots”, where the Parisian intellectual bohemians around Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Juliette Gréco frequented, opulent antique shops, galleries and bookshops can be discovered in the adjacent streets.

If you feel like a little green after so much urban bustle, the Christa Appelt matchmaking team recommends a detour to the nearby Jardin du Luxembourg. Other nearby highlights include the Panthéon, which serves as a national hall of fame and resting place for Marie Curie, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo and Émile Zola, among others, and the Romanesque church of Saint-Sulpice, where many historical personalities were baptized or married.

    Where ladies weaken…

Paris is regarded as the capital of fashion and the Parisian women with their effortless, elegantly casual style are regarded as fashion models. This also applies to us at the Christa Appelt dating agency. So let’s go shopping to match the daughters of the city! The Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in the 8th arrondissement is the perfect place for this, as it is home to renowned French designers as well as small concept stores and vintage boutiques. In the neighbouring Rue Cambon 31, fashionable ladies will find Chanel’s flagship store – and here they can follow in Coco’s footsteps. The excellent way to the Place Vendôme at the back, where numerous jewel houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Chaumet are located as well as the legendary Ritz Hotel – where Coco Chanel lived in a suite for more than 30 years. For a cup of coffee and some heavenly pastries, it’s worth stopping at the Ladurée on Rue Royale; the macarons, eclairs and sweet creations of the famous patisserie are our favourite – and Christa Appelt, the partner agency team member responsible for one or two hip bacon, is responsible for it. But we promise that a visit to the Ladurée is worth every calorie…!

Zurück auf der Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré lässt es sich bis zum Élysée Palast spazieren, jenem Ort, der als Regierungs- und Wohnsitz der französischen Präsidenten dient.

    Nightclub or opera?

Paris also has a lot to offer at night. Whether it’s the small clubs in the Marais or the Montmatre, gigs by newcomer bands in Paris pubs, concerts by French superstars in legendary halls like the Olympia or the seductive shows in dance institutions like the Lido or the Folies Bergère: There is something for everyone. You should definitely have seen a show at Crazy Horse – at least according to the team of the matchmaking agency Christa Appelt. This is a bit frivolous, but always very tasteful, the dancers are a feast for the eyes and the choreographies are groundbreaking. And so, members of the Paris Haute Volée and even politicians like to be seen here. This is how the typical French “laissez-faire” goes…

For those who like it more “serious”, we would like to recommend a visit to the Opéra Garnier. Not only classical music highlights are tempting here, but also one of the best ballet companies in the world. And it is supported by guest dancers such as the current superstars Sergei Polunin and Irina Kolesnikova. Seeing “Swan Lake” or the “Nutcracker” here should definitely be on the agenda.

Clearly the most beautiful thing in two…!

We from the team of the dating agency Christa Appelt could go on forever with Paris and further recommendations. For example, with a foray into the glamorous 8th arrondissement around Avenue Montaigne, where Dior’s head office is located. Or a romantic stroll along the Canal St. Martin including a boat trip. A ride in the Bois de Vincennes. And of course a visit to the legendary Père Lachaise cemetery, where Frédéric Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust, Edith Piaf, Maria Callas and Jim Morrison found their final resting places.

As beautiful as Paris is, so indisputable is the fact that in the city of love, one is best taken care of by two. If you are still missing your dream partner, the Christa Appelt dating agency team will be happy to assist you. Even on the spot. And of course with the highest discretion, reliability and license to find the ultimate partner…
